Acupuncture is a treatment derived from ancient Chinese medicine. The theory of acupuncture is that "chi", the body's own life energy, flows via twelve bilateral meridians that are all interconnected like an electrical circuit. Good health is therefore a nice even flow of energy throughout the circuit. Pain and physical ill health is seen as a blockage of this energy.

Applying needles on points around the area and one or two distal points (points that are further along the meridian from the site of pain) will usually have a beneficial effect upon the pain i.e., it will unblock the blockage.

Lizzie trained in 2017 and has since had great results with the use of acupuncture for Physical MSK conditions. Effects of acupuncture include, pain relief, increase in circulation, improved relaxation and relief of tight tissue- muscle, fascia, ligament or tendon. Conditions specifically reactive to acupuncture include osteoarthritis, muscle tears, tendonitis or tendinosis and general tightness or chronic pain patterns. Lizzie will discuss the use and appropriateness of acupuncture in your treatment for specific conditions. She often integrates it within a Physiotherapy treatment or sports massage but if she sees a beneficial impact alone, she will offer this as a separate treatment.
